As per media reports (https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/03/us/sacramento-shooting-updates.html ) at least 6 were dead and 12 wounded in a mass shooting in California’s capital city Sacramento. Multiple shooters were involved in the incident that occurred outside crowded bars downtown early Sunday. This mass shooting was the second in just over a month in Sacramento. In late February, a father killed his three young daughters, a chaperone and himself in a church during a supervised custody visitation. Sunday’s death toll is the highest in the state in a single event since last year, when 10 people were fatally shot in San Jose. In other States of the USA also such mass shootings have taken place in the past with no sign of the elimination of such crimes.

This should be a matter of concern especially for the US-Christianity (which is being followed by the overwhelming majority of the people in the USA) because the politicians and State functionaries of the USA have become apathetic towards the victims and family members & friends of the victims of mass shootings. It doesn’t require a genius of criminal jurisprudence to know that mass shootings happen in the USA (in which innocent people get killed and injured) for the simple reason that lethal bullets are allowed to be used by the people who have licensed guns.

No-doubt there should be a fundamental right to have a gun especially due to the reason that nowadays more and more women are going out of their home for education, job etc where they are exposed to violence and other crimes. Even in the best condition of law & order the personal safety & security of vulnerable people (including women) in home & outside can be ensured only by having a gun. But there is no reason why such guns should have lethal bullets.

This problem can easily be solved if every adult citizen is legally entitled to have a licensed gun (a weapon for defense only and not with higher fire-power) with non-lethal bullets (with tranquilizer somewhat as used by forest guards to make wild & aggressive animals to make them unconscious). The licensed gun holder can shoot the offender with such a non-lethal bullet and make him / her unconscious and then hand-over the offender to police for further legal action.

But what is surprising rather tragic is that the Vice President / Chairwomen Senate Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (who both are incidentally from California State and both are women ) have not done anything about this extremely important issue. Which only proves that like other Congressmen & Congresswomen both Kamala & Nancy are also least bothered about the question of life & death of the ordinary people of the USA.

Therefore the US-Christianity should invoke the spirit of public service of the Congressmen & Congresswomen to legislate proper law for non-lethal bullets with right to gun
