The meeting of foreign ministers of ‘Organization of Islamic Cooperation’ (OIC) ended on December 19 in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. In this OIC meet (as reported at https://www.youtube.com/watch?
Pakistan as per the first resolution of the OIC wants the West led by the USA to merely provide money and other relief to Afghans who are facing humanitarian crises. No doubt the majority of these about 38 million Afghans need such help but the members of the OIC (specially oil rich countries) can easily provide such relief. The 57 Muslim countries of OIC do not need Christian West led by the USA to provide such urgent relief to Muslim Afghanistan. But the USA should ask a blunt question from Pakistan that if type of government doesn’t matter in contemporary world then why Pakistan has refused to recognize the Taliban government (as said by Qureshi after this OIC meet in press briefing, to the effect) because Taliban has not yet met the standards of proper government hence Pakistan will wait for some more time before it recognizes Taliban government in Afghanistan.
Of course the second resolution of the OIC about Palestine has merit in it and the USA should take it as its challenge to win the cold war II of ‘liberal Western democracy’ against ‘authoritarian Chinese democracy’ and for this the USA should do the following:-
(1)- The USA should not come under the evil influence of Pak propaganda that merely food etc (which OIC can easily provide) are the only thing Afghans need. The USA should tell the entire world that Afghanistan needs secular democracy as much as any country in the rest of the world.
(2)- The USA should take the winning of cold war II seriously for which three measures are essential. First the fixing of India and Israel. For fixing Israel the Palestine problem should be resolved by constraining Israel to go for one-State-solution (instead of absurd and unjust two-State-solution) where all the displaced Palestinians (registered with the UN or not) shall be allowed to live in one State of Israel-Palestine as its citizens.
(3)- For fixing India first of all the USA will have to understand that the partition of India was illegal as per international laws because there was no provision of population transfer in ‘Indian Independence Act’ but it was allowed to happen (when undivided India was a member of the UN sponsored by the USA) through forced population transfer (which caused genocide of about 1 million people and displacement of about 15 million people). Hence the ‘Federation of Secular, Democratic mini-SAARC’ (FSD-mini-SAARC) of India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan (which doesn’t accept Durand Line) under one political authority is legally expected and the USA should try for it.
(4)- But this FSD-mini-SAARC will become a reality only when the poison of communalism (mainly the result of said forced population transfer during partition) is removed from undivided India for which the USA should ensure (i)- Plebiscite in united J&K (mandated by IoA of J&K to India) and in Balochistan (who’s IoA was taken by Pakistan by military pressure despite contrary resolution by its Parliament / Jirga) and (ii)- The ‘dual citizenship’ to about 160 million Hindus. Sikhs and Muslims (and their descendants) who were forcibly displaced from their motherland during partition (from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh). Moreover the USA should ensure (militarily if necessary) if India, Pakistan and Bangladesh fail to provide proper law & order to these Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims who would go there with ‘dual citizenship’.
(5)- Because it will be crucial for realizing FSD-mini-SAARC hence in the interest of making India a genuine secular country (de-facto- and not merely de-jure), the USA should ensure (I)- A petition in the Supreme Court of India (SCI) for complete justice under Article 142 of the Constitution for reviewing the so-called final judgment in Ayodhya dispute and for legally expected restoration of Status-quo-ante of Babri-masjid (which was demolished in 1992 in the presence of the Observer of SCI) before any legitimate final judgment in Ayodhya title suit. Because otherwise it is lowering the authority of court which is criminal contempt even on the part of SCI under section 2 ( c) (i) read with section 16 of Contempt of Court Act (II)- Repeal of all discriminatory (especially against Muslims) reservation laws which, in the name of backward castes, is giving reservations to also those castes of Hindus which even recently ruled in India and (III)- Repeal of all the laws related to cow protection, beef eating etc which are causing lynching of Muslims and even of ‘Dalits’ in India.
(6)- As far as Afghanistan, its militant Jihadis could operate because they were supported by Pakistan which has no problem with radicalism. Once genuine secularism is established in Pakistan, the inflated balloon of the militant Jihadis of Afghanistan (including Taliban) will be punctured.
(7)- As a second measure to win the cold war II, the USA should start pressing for secular democracy in the rest of the world by carrot & stick approach. If the USA expects many countries (Iran about its nuclear program, Russia about its military action in Crimea / Ukraine etc) to change their behavior and attitude then there is no reason why the USA can’t constrain theocratic / authoritarian countries to adopt secular democracy in their countries through the carrot & stick approach.
(8)- As a third measure to win the cold war II, the commissioning of US-religions in the service of secular democracy in the rest of the world is crucial. Prez Biden will have to understand its importance by realizing that secular democracy is needed for free mind which is sine-qua-non for the modern science & technology which has made mankind the most powerful in its entire history. That is why the progressive & responsible section of any country wants human rights friendly secular democracy in their countries. But due to medieval religions being practiced especially in developing world (like Islam, rigid to large extent in Muslim countries and even Hinduism, rigid to some extent in India) the vested entrenched / interest of these medieval religions don’t allow genuine secularism to be adopted in these countries (mainly due to lack of creativity on the part their religious leaders which has come in the way of making these religions up-dated).
(9)- To be fair to these developing countries ‘secular democracy’ is not that easy to practice. Even in the West (and in European origin countries like the USA etc) it has become possible only after huge loss of lives, blood, properties etc in Europe especially during 16th & 17th centuries including in 30 years of ‘war of religions’ which constrained the Christianity to function on the principle of separation of Church from the State. Hence if Christianity is allowed to function freely in these developing countries then it will be very easy for the religions of these developing countries (while functioning in competition with Christianity) to adopt the values of secular-democracy.
(10)- But the US-religions (Christianity etc) can go to developing countries only when they are allowed to function fearlessly over there. Hence the USA should ensure that all the four countries of mini-SAARC provide freedom of religion and even freedom of conversion from one religion to another because this is the best way of getting the mini-SAARC region free from communalism. After the mini-SAARC region, such freedom of religion should be enforced by the USA in the rest of the world too.
(11)- At the same time Christianity should not forget that the working class (so called middle class as called by politicians in the USA while cajoling it during elections) has become so powerful in Christian world (due to modern science & technology) because Jesus Christ was from working class (a carpenter). Moreover ‘God is love’ is not said meaninglessly because Jesus Christ showed His love to ‘oppressed and humble’ through His actions also during ‘Cleansing of Temple’ where He overturned the tables of money changers (as narrated in all the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) out His concerns for egalitarianism and ‘sanctity of monetary system’ (without which justice to have-nots is impossible in any society).
Therefore it is hoped that Prez Biden (this Christmas) will invite all the US-religions in the White House (or at any other suitable place) and convince them to propagate the message of Jesus (the Christian values of secular democracy too) in rest of the world especially in developing world (starting from mini-SAARC region) which will be the right Christmas celebration not only for Prez Biden but also for the US-Christianity, in the service of mankind
